Cooper and William have decided to take Mark's all aluminum teardrop trailer that he designed for his personal VW Beetle Smyth Ute and run with it with a new company called Smyth Teardrops. They will contract production of the package to us here in the Smyth factory and will work the weekends till July delivering duplicates of Mark's final design.
 
For all of us Uters, this is the ultimate bolt on accesory. Based on a standard 4x8 flat top trailer (this one a 499.00 Harbor Freight 1720lb version), Mark made this pod to double as a covered rear entry motorcycle hauler as well as a comfortable camper with a mattress. 
 
Bare aluminum 1" x 1" .125 wall tubing support extra thick .100 outer aluminum sheet. 
 
Stock window openings: Door 26x32, Small window behind door 16x16, front crank-out window is 33x10. Windows include screens. 
 
Hurricane hinges for rear hatch.
 
Aluminum corner trim with vinyl insert to fortify the edges.
 
Hardware: Rivets, screws, latch and handle for rear door, weather stripping.

The total Beta price looks like $2300 for the kit including a window and a door for access. The interior is unfinished with 1x1 square tubing so that you can run wiring and insulation befor trimming the inside walls with you favorite surface material. Shipping the first 10 in May and the last 15 in June '25.

The Beta kits will be cnc cut, bent and tig welded for easy assembly. The first units will come with one 26x32 rv door with screen inner and a 22x30 tilt out window. A 5 foot rear hatch will allow motorcycle access from the rear. and a huge rear camping kitchen area.
 
Cooper is setting up the cnc programs for various door/window configurations. The deposit is fully refundable for any reason. 
 
A handful of these pods will be built in April for beta customers at a price of 2300 bucks including side door and larger 20x30 screened window standard.
